Christina Iatrou - Soitaridis

The Greek poetess and writer Mrs. Christina Iatrou -  Soitaridis was born on September 7, 1944, in the historic and beautiful peninsula of Chalkidiki in Greece. She learned the first letters in her hometown. In 1960, she  emigrated with her parents Konstantinos and Zacharenia Iatrou to Australia.

Christina is a member of many Literary Associations  in Australia (“Antipodes”, “O Logos”) and Greece (“Union of Greek Writers”, “International Society of Greek Writers and Artists”).

Her poems have appeared in Poetry Anthologies and  have been translated in English. Her writing has received awards from national and international literary competitions.

She lives in Melbourne with her husband Konstantinos and their children Les and Rena Soitaridis.

ON THE PODIUM OF  OUR SOUL

When hearts live in peace and  walking together,

roads become negotiable, paths are brightening,

the Skies open, universes are in harmony.

When the sky is shining,  clouds clear,

the sky is pure white in the dome of our soul,

faith and hope gleaming courageous

and unite all the people with divine harmony

in front of the immaculate altar, on the podium of our soul.

Poets and writers,  whatever religion you believe,

a desire unites you for a just society.

You are lovers of speech, dreamers of right

and moral principles, helpers for all the people.

Writers unite and raise the standards,

their folds now open,

disseminate PEACE in every place.
